Eyeliner is a makeup that you apply to emphasize and accentuate the size and shape of your eyes.

• After applying your eyeshadow, but before your mascara, apply your liner.

Although most people know how to apply liner, a few professional tips make the result even more spectacular.

1. Never use liner on the inside part of the lower lid. This could result in an eye infection.
2. Also, keep your brushes clean by washing them regularly with a mild soap or using makeup remover.
3. Only use black liner in the evening, as it is too harsh looking for daytime wear.

Different Liners Available

Liners are available in liquids, pencils, cakes, felt tip, and creams. Be sure that if you select a pencil liner, you choose a soft one. Your eye area is very delicate so you need a liner that glides on smoothly and easily.

• Use a pencil liner to achieve a natural, soft definition. They are best for beginners as they are easy to control and apply.

• Liquid liners offer drama and precision but require more practice. Once you can control the liquid liner, a precision line is possible to achieve.

• Felt tip liners are very much like a liquid liner in consistency but easier to use and control.

• Normally used by professionals, cake liner has become more popular.

Applying Liner

Always apply your liner at the base of your lashes to create a fuller look. Practice applying liner to your eyes until you achieve a thin line rather than a thick, unattractive line.

• Dust your eyelids with loose, sheer powder so the liner sticks.
• Curl your eyelashes before applying liner.
• If your hand is unsteady, sit and rest your elbow to minimize shaking.
• Drag the liner from the middle of your eye to the inner corner and then repeat from the middle to the outer edge of your eye.
• Do not leave a space between the line and your lashes.
